Common Threads

Common Threads is a charity that teaches low-income children to cook wholesome and affordable meals. Their philosophy believes that through hands-on cooking classes childhood obesity can be prevented and the trend of generations of non-cookers reversed, while celebrating cultural differences and the things people all over the world have in common. Their mission is to educate children on the importance of nutrition and physical well-being, and to foster an appreciation of cultural diversity through cooking. The hotel’s Executive Chef, Julie Frans, teaches some of these classes and the hotel supports the charity with fundraisers and donations.
