- Jet skiing in Biscayne Bay. Where else other then Miami can you take a peak at some of the country’s most beautiful waterfront homes, where some of Miami’s star residents live, including Gloria & Emilio Estefan, Diddy, Julio Iglesias and the Miami Heat’s Shaq.
- Revving up with a powerful Cuban coffee at one of the cities many Cuban restaurants’ coffee stands. This coffee tastes great and can keep you going all day long. Ask for an espresso-like colada to split with your friends or for those looking for something milder, request a café con leche. Pair your coffee with a pastelitto, a Cuban pastry, filled with guava or cheese for a real treat.
- Staying out till 5am at one of the city’s hot nightclubs and watching the sun rise with breakfast at News Café. Miami is one of those destinations, where the party never ends, so put on your dancing shoes and get moving.
- Strolling on candy colored Ocean Drive, home to South Beach’s Art Deco hotels which face the beach. Interested in finding out more about this historic district, head to Art Deco Welcome Center and take a tour.
- Getting adventurous with a day trip from Miami to the nearby Everglades National Park. Take an airboat ride through the mangroves where you’ll find alligators, herons and turtles among other Everglades residents.
- Learning to scuba dive, you’ve always wanted to! Just off the Miami shoreline are several wrecks that have created habitats to fascinating stingrays, turtles and tropical fish – a true feast for the eyes. Just off Key Biscayne and Miami Beach’s government cut are some great locations to scuba dive.
- Spending the day on Lincoln Road. Shop and dine on this pedestrian-only street, a favorite of both locals and tourists alike. This shopping district boomed in the 1950s and is hot once again with major shopping chains, unique local boutiques and various cafes boasting outdoor seating for people watching.
- Pretending you’re in Europe with a visit to Viscaya Gardens & Museum. Located just off of Coconut Grove, this estate built by agricultural industrialist James Deering in 1916, Vizcaya features a luxuriously decorated main house, ten acres of formal lush gardens and a hardwood hammock. If it weren’t for the view of Biscayne Bay, you’d think you were in Italy or France.
- Arousing your senses at vibrant Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens. Located just 25 minutes from The Palms, Fairchild features one of the world's preeminent botanic gardens, with extensive collections of rare tropical plants including palms, cycads, flowering trees and vines. Take a breathtaking tram tour (available year-round) or a guided walking tour (available November to May) through the 83-acre gardens. Depending on what time of year you visit, you may get lucky and experience their annual Orchid festival in late February or the annual Mango Festival held in mid July.
